J. Press 70% Off Sale

I always dress too warm for a sample sale. Hotter than hades up on the 29th floor of 530 7th Avenue (bet 38th and 39th) but some great stuff if you luck out size wise. All you short-skinny guys? This is your chance to load up.

Troy shirts, lots of tweed, mostly winter apparel with outright stealing in the damaged / sample area. A nice shawl collar dinner jacket for $10 but no trousers. I do wish Press would do this more often. More fun than a hog killin'. 11:00 - 6:00 Today through Friday

I made out like a bandit this morning with one of the Donegal Mist Presstige tweeds...

Awwwh --- I'm so jealous over a sale like this. Prices down to dirt level - it looks like a steal.

Wow. I'm short AND skinny. This would be a great time to be in NY.

Stopped by and picked up a great yellow bowtie with micro polka dots. Thanks for the heads-up, TinTin.

Picked up some great stuff there! Too bad there were no socks when I arrived though...

Thanks for the tip, Tintin. Found a stray shaggy dog to give a home to. Bit of a mutt, but the right price. Also: they sweetened the deal by throwing in that one ugly, damaged raw-silk tie for free. But I guess now I have to wear it.

To get specific on the short/skinny thing (for any guys out there fitting that description): What I saw was mostly 39-42 Shorts. So this 37S was outta luck.

How long does the sale run?

Love all the detail shots.

Thanks for the tip--I was able to pick up some great stuff.

Do you know the significance of the tie with the 8s on it? There was one with 19 too. I was puzzled.

Would it be a waste of time for me to go this afternoon (~6:30p)? I'm assuming anything decent is gone by now.

I am still trying to get over the shock that J press is doing a line for Urban Outfitters

Alice- Course you do. I'd love to see it through your eyes though.

Brian- Neither do I which is why I don't own one.

anon- you never know. Do you have to drive 5.5 hours? If not, it may be worth it.

MP- Get outta here!

Picked up a sweet argyle shaggy dog for $45 bones. Shame they had no sport coats anywhere near a 50.

Oh my, it's true!

What is the quality of a Troy made shirt these days? I last got one 30 years ago at Jack Harpers (State College) and it was a fantastic shirt.
